Host family requirements and conditions

All you need to become a host family in Sweden


The Au Pair will not only provide reliable child care, but also become a big brother or sister to your children, thereby becoming a new member of the family. As you live together, you will learn about another way of living and experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with a stranger whom you will get to know pretty well. In order to host an Au Pair, you must meet the following criteria:    one or more children under 18 live in your household
   swedish citizens or legal permanent residents
   speak Swedish in your everyday family life
   provide an appropriate private room and three meals a day and salary minimum SEK 4,830 for 25 hours of care (maximum 5 hours per day)
   provide health insurance for the duration of your Au Pair's stay
   provide a language course that fits with the working hour in your family.
   minimum of 2 day off per week and a minimum of 2 weeks of paid vacation for a one-year stay
   include the au pair as part of the family, whenever possible, in family outings, holidays, and other events during the au pair stay (maximum duration: 12 months)
