Primary responsibilities of the Au Pair are to care for the children. Au pair work for a maximum of 25 - 35 hours a week. Au Pairs should be given the opportunity to attend a language course and have free time to enjoy their experience abroad if they respect these working hours.

Job descriptions for au pairs are multifaceted, and will vary based on the particular requirements of the family you work for. Typical au pair responsibilities include the following:
   waking up the children
   getting babies and toddlers dressed
   assisting the children with bathing and playing
   getting the children's meals ready
   cleaning up the kitchen after meals
   making the children's beds and organizing their rooms
   doing the laundry for the children
   organizing the playroom after playtime
   taking care of children's belongings
   during sick or holiday periods, stay at home with the children
   taking children to and from school, appointments, or outings as requested by the host family
