Au Pair requirements and conditions

All you need to become an au pair in Sweden


Your responsibilities as an au pair include caring for the children of your host family during your contracted working hours. In order to fulfill these requirements, au pairs should meet certain requirements:    be between the ages of 18 and 30 when they arrive in the Sweden
   unmarried and have no children
   have good English language skills
   have high school graduate or equivalent
   agree to commit for one full year
   be in good health and have no criminal record
   have an interest in the Swedish culture and language
   have proof at least 200 hours of recent practical childcare experience with children

Having a love of children

Love of children is the most important requirement, since your daily life will almost always revolve around them. There will be many different tasks you will have to manage, including chauffeuring, cooking, teaching, playing, reading, and entertaining. Childcare experience is important to the host parents, and they strongly desire it.

Childcare experience

References confirming your childcare experience must be provided by people who are not related to you. The references should be able to substantiate at least 200 hours of experience, preferably with children under 10 years old.

Valid driving license

If not, no worries! While you are applying for your license, you can still get driving license.
