An au pair is a young adult aged 18 to 30 who travels to a Sweden for a defined period of time to live with a host family for a maximum period of 12 months.

The au pair’s main objective is to get to know the Swedish language and culture. The au pair supports the host family with childcare as a big brother or sister and light housework in exchange for accommodation, food and pocket money and opportunities to immerse themselves in a new country and culture, making memories they’ll cherish forever.

Au Pair Certification

In addition to being published online, au pairs can get their profiles certified in order to speed up the searching for au pairs. This means that the au pair has to do a video interview with our team where we check that the information in the profile is accurate and that they can speak the language enough to be an au pair. Above all, it is the personality of your family and the au pair that determines whether they will be a good match.

Au Pair is a cultural exchange agreement between a young person and a family in another country. The Au Pair helps out with the kids and light housework and in return get to travel, gain experiences and learn a new culture and language.
Learn more As required by Swedish law, the au pair get 3500 sek/month from the host family. This is excluding tax. After tax 3050 sek/month.
Learn more 18-30 y/o, unmarried, no kids, good english, at least high school graduate, good health, no criminal record, 200+ hours of practical childcare experience.
Learn more Swedish citizens, legal permanent residents, speaking swedish in everyday family life and being able to provide an private room, three meals a day, 3500 sek/month in pocket money, health insurance, language courses and include the au pair as part of the family.
Learn more Register at Skatteverket upon arrival. You pay tax on your pocket money. After tax you get 3050 sek/month. Paying tax gives you a personal/coordinaton number and healthcare insurance.
Learn more To drive in sweden, the au pair need an international driving licence (can get it in thailand before the trip). Its valid for 1 year but can be renewed. Sweden drives on the right side of the road, so practice is needed in the beginning.
Learn more Au Pairs are not eligible for the same social benefits as permanent residents, au pairs must have a private au pair insurance which usually costs around 3500 SEK per year paid by the host family.
